BOOK REVIEW: Words from the Heart by Kathleen Fuller

BOOK REVIEW: Words from the Heart by Kathleen Fuller

I have waited, mostly patiently, for six months for this book to release.  I have loved every book in this series.  ‘Written in Love‘ brings Jalon and Pheobe together to his home in Birch Creek.  ‘The Promise of a Letter‘ brings Jalon’s sister Leanna together with her boss’ brother Roman in an awkward love story of two very nontraditional people.  It also brought together Jalon’s cousin Adam with Leanna’s best friend’s sister Karen.  I knew that ‘Words from the Heart’ would be all about Ivy and I couldn’t wait.  Though it was a sad waiting knowing that it would be the end of this series, a series I would be content to go on and on and on… While this book may be about Ivy and Noah (don’t worry John is just a distraction for ya…eeps spoilerish?) Cevilla really carried the story for me.  Let me tell ya why.  I […]

BOOK REVIEW: What Dreams May Come by Alana Terry

BOOK REVIEW: What Dreams May Come by Alana Terry

Sometimes you sit down and write a review of a book and the words are easy and the sentiments flow like gravy.  Other times your heart knows what it wants to say but you brain can’t turn that into words.  This is the second time.  I really enjoyed this book, with a background of truth, and a theme of faith.  I enjoyed getting to know Susannah and Scott.  This book steps into the end of their love story.  They’ve already fallen in love, via phone calls and emails.  They’ve yet to meet face to face.  I wondered for chapters and didn’t really find out what happened until about a third of the way through the book.  And then … the overwhelming need to pass out a plethora of Gibbs’ smacks began. Susannah was so very sheltered I wondered how she would function on an international mission stage.  Away from home, […]

BOOK REVIEW: When God Made Light by Matthew Paul Turner Illustrated by David Catrow

BOOK REVIEW: When God Made Light by Matthew Paul Turner Illustrated by David Catrow

When the opportunity to review this book and help the author with the book launch came up I jumped at the chance.  Turner’s first book ‘When God Made You‘ has become a favorite in our world.  I actually purchased a second copy for my niece on her birthday as, despite the initial mixed signals from the Minions, they have all fallen in love with that book.  The only problem?  Right now I don’t have access to my Minions to get their reactions to this book.  I know they would love it.  The illustrations are so whimsical and inviting.  I really enjoy David Catrow‘s style.  The words weren’t as overwhelming and heavy as the first book but more perfectly spaced throughout the book. Genesis 1:3-5 (KJV) And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light […]

Reflections is a weekly meme hosted by Kristin of A Simply Enchanted Life and Fizzy of Fizzy Pop Collection. Every Sunday we will dig deeper in our recent reads to explore the real-life lessons within the pages. Reading the book yourself is not necessary to participate. If you would like to host your own reflection, you’re welcome to copy and paste this introduction, with the link to our pages. You may use our current or prior reflections or come up with your own. In ‘A Light on the Hill‘ by Connilyn Cossette, Moriyah returns as our heroine.  In ‘Wings on the Wind‘ we are introduced to Moriyah when the Israelites take the walls of Jericho.  She was branded on her face as a temple prostitute.  A brand that she is ashamed of.  A brand that causes other’s to judge her for her past.  A brand of her past that cannot […]
