Book 2 in the Beauty in Flight series: Harper’s second chance at life will become a second stint in prison if anyone connects her to those two dead men.
Nutfield, New Hampshire, is as good a place as any to hide from the murderer Harper left behind in Maryland. All she has to do is lie low and make enough money to keep herself and Red alive until she can figure out who her enemies are.
Jack Rossi isn’t sure what to make of his beautiful new tenant and her confused grandfather. Something's not right, but the love he sees between them and the care she takes of the old man convinces Jack they're trustworthy. As drawn as he is to Harper, she’s his tenant, so she’s off limits.
Derrick, Harper's ex-boyfriend and Red’s grandson, needs to find his grandfather and get his hands on the old man’s money before Derrick ends up with a bullet in the skull. And when he gets his hands on Harper, she’ll be sorry for what she’s put him through.
Harper and Jack grow closer, but so do her enemies. If Harper can’t trust Jack with the truth, she may lose more than just this glimpse of true love. She may lose her freedom—or her life.

A lot of what I was missing in ‘Beauty in Flight’ was brought to light in ‘Beauty in Hiding’. Hello, thank you for finally telling me how she landed in prison! At a longer length this story really settled in as a novel that felt cohesive and added to the character depth and storyline of the first book. While I didn’t walk away from this book with a burning disappointment that it was over I was so entrenched in how it left me hanging that I might have immediately started reading the third book. Like before I even sat down to write this review. As in, um well I know how it all ends already. I’m pretty certain you are going to want to do that too.
There were a few things that left me a little lack-luster in this part of the story. Some things just falling into place too perfectly – aka the situation in Vermont. I mean who does that? Well, you don’t know ‘that’ yet so I’ll gloss over it. What landlord on the planet is going to see a potential sketchy situation such as Harper and Red and knowing there’s no job in the picture and not immediately figure there’s an eviction notice in the near future? I mean here comes Jack all knight in shining armor to the rescue helping her get a job, watch Red, and just all around behave the exact opposite of a landlord. The side story with Derrick felt a little too perfectly polished for real life as well. But perhaps, at the core of it all I’m really just a cynic.
Outside of answering unanswered questions this book dropped a lot more questions in the final chapter. Like I said, might as well be prepared to read this and ‘Beauty in Battle’ back to back. Another plus with this book, for me, was the faith felt so much more organic. I didn’t feel like it was a twisted in afterthought but more something that the rest of the story was build around. It’s not earth shattering deep but it does a great job of niggling in just enough to be soul deep. And really, that’s all any of us need is a bit of soul deep faith. As the suspense builds up throughout this book I am fully invested to know how all the twists are going to play out. I am sorta embarrassed to admit I haven’t figured it all out yet. Another reason this book deserves all the five stars I’ve given it!
