This is one story collection that’s sure become a favorite of girls everywhere!
I don’t know what it is about the girls running around all willy nilly, sometimes in what I would think would be dangerous places for young folks to be running around, but I find myself literally reading every story through that lense. Like where are these parents?!? I saw a lot less of that in this set of novellas and my ancient heart let loose for a bit. The reality is that I haven’t not liked any of the books I’ve read so far but sometimes . . . concerns. The flip side of that is a young reader would be drawn into the adventures and, in my opinion, thoroughly enjoy them.
As I read through this series I love getting to know the girls better. Elizabeth with her deep faith and maturity. Sydney with her endless energy and sweet disposition. McKenzie with her heart and understanding of how people (and animals) tick. Alexis with her devouring mind, always looking at how to capture everything around her in a way she can share with others, and her drive to be featured for her videography especially with Nat Geo. I’m excited to see more of Kate and her gadgets and Bailey, young sweet Bailey. The way these girls balance each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Honestly I can’t not thing that if you don’t read all the books you are going to miss so much. Opportunity, growing faith, new knowledge, all of it. Alexis, with some interesting mysteries just developed the entire group more for me. And we always need more.
Another thing I am loving is the education that is weaved in. Learning about animal sanctuaries, volcanoes, British History, and even Big Foot was fun with Alexis and the girls. These stories had such a great balance of friendship, faith, and mystery. This review is hard for me. Evenings just reading and relaxing took me through this book with just some chill vibes and some laughs. I even learned a thing or two about volcanoes. Overall, honestly this is a really good fun read for any young reader that blends things that are fun and interesting with a foundation of faith and sometimes even a bit of knowledge you didn’t know you needed. And always a tinge if seriously? from time to time. Things I didn’t see coming on my reading journey was Big Foot. Just sayin’.
